Ammo-51-RC-DL Naval Railcar Inspection (4E-F43/645-F27 (DL))

Graded multiple choice questions are provided at the end of each course. 75% of these must be answered correctly to complete the course. After three unsuccessful attempts to do so, the course will be marked as unsuccessful.

Description: This course is a certification course in accordance with NAVSEA OP 5, Volume 1 Appendix D. It is designed to provide refresher training for personnel assigned to inspect rail cars transporting ammunition and explosives in accordance with the standards cited in NAVSEA SW020-AF-HBK-010. This refresher training course provides up-to-date requirements, techniques, and procedures for inspection of railcars on and off station for ammunition and explosives. Students are provided instruction in compatibility, placarding requirements, and blocking and bracing for ISO intermodal containers. Also discussed are Department of Defense (DOD) and Navy transport equipment inspection procedures using NAVSEA Form 8023/3, Navy transportation safety requirements, and security of sensitive conventional arms, ammunition, and explosives.

Audience: This course is intended for Navy or Marine Corps personnel (military, civilian, or contractor) who perform work or are assigned functions of inspecting railcars used for hazardous material shipments and others who must fulfill the certification requirements given in Appendix D of OP 5, Volume 1. Personnel seeking initial certification for Inspection of Railcars transporting ammunition and explosives must successfully complete AMMO-51 classroom training. NOTE: Proponent has determined this course is not releasable to International Military Students.
